FAQ

United States Shipping & Tariff Information

Why am I being charged a "US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge"?

The US Government has imposed tariff and import charges on orders entering the United States. DMDC is required to pay these charges on the customer’s behalf before the parcel can be shipped. These costs are outside DMDC’s control and cannot be avoided or waived.

Why is the surcharge a flat 32%?

US import duties and processing charges vary depending on the products included in each order. As our checkout cannot apply a different rate to every individual item, DMDC currently applies a flat 32% Import Cost Recovery Surcharge based on our average US import costs.

This rate may increase or decrease if US tariff requirements or the actual import costs charged to DMDC change. DMDC reviews the surcharge regularly and absorbs any additional costs when the charges for an order exceed the amount collected.

Will the surcharge rate change?

Yes. The surcharge may increase or decrease if the US Government changes the tariffs, duties or processing charges imposed on Australian businesses shipping orders to the United States. DMDC will review the rate and update it when required.

What happens if the surcharge is not applied at checkout?

If an order has a US delivery address and the surcharge is not applied at checkout for any reason, DMDC will add it to the order manually and email the customer an invoice for payment. The surcharge must be paid before the order can be dispatched.

If payment is not received within 10 business days, the order will be cancelled and refunded in full.

What happens if an incorrect surcharge amount is charged at checkout?

If a website or checkout error causes less than the stated 32% surcharge to be collected, DMDC may correct the error and email an invoice for the outstanding surcharge amount.

This is different from the actual import costs later being higher than DMDC’s average 32% surcharge. Where the correct 32% surcharge was collected but the final import costs exceed that amount, DMDC will absorb the additional cost.

The full corrected surcharge must be paid before dispatch. If payment is not received within 10 business days, the order may be cancelled and refunded in accordance with DMDC’s cancellation policy.

Can the surcharge be removed, reduced or discounted?

No. The surcharge is mandatory for all orders shipping to the United States and cannot be waived, reduced, discounted or removed. DMDC cannot ship a US order without first covering the required import charges.

Will I be charged additional duties when my order arrives?

DMDC prepays the applicable US import charges through Zonos and Australia Post before the parcel enters the United States. Customers should therefore not be asked to pay these duties again upon delivery.

Additional costs may still apply in circumstances outside DMDC’s control, such as incorrect delivery information, refused parcels or charges unrelated to the prepaid import duties.

What happens if the actual import charges are higher than the surcharge collected?

If the duties and processing charges assessed on an order exceed the surcharge collected, DMDC pays the difference. We have chosen to absorb these additional costs because we value our US customers and want to continue offering shipping to the United States, rather than suspending US orders altogether.

Why did the surcharge increase from 10% to 32%?

The previous 10% surcharge reflected the US import charges applying at that time. Following recent changes to US tariff requirements, DMDC is now being charged significantly higher product-specific duties and processing fees on orders entering the United States.

The current 32% rate is based on DMDC’s updated average import costs and is necessary to continue shipping to US customers without passing on unexpected charges after purchase.

Is the 32% surcharge applied to shipping costs?

No. The surcharge is calculated on the merchandise subtotal only and is not applied to the shipping charge.

Can DMDC declare a lower value or mark my parcel as a gift?

No. DMDC must provide accurate product descriptions and values on all customs documentation. We cannot undervalue an order, mark a commercial purchase as a gift or alter customs information to reduce import charges.

What happens if US tariff rates change after I place my order?

The surcharge shown and paid at checkout will apply to that order. If the actual import charges later assessed are higher than the amount collected, DMDC will cover the difference and will not request an additional payment from you.

Does the surcharge apply to every order shipped to the United States?

Yes. The surcharge applies automatically to all physical orders with a US delivery address. It cannot be removed based on order value, product type or customer circumstances.

Will DMDC profit from this surcharge?

No. DMDC does not profit from the US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge. The full amount collected contributes towards the tariffs, duties and processing charges DMDC must pay to ship orders to the United States.

Because the surcharge is based on average import costs, the actual charges on some orders may exceed the amount collected. When this occurs, DMDC pays the additional cost rather than requesting further payment from the customer. In practice, DMDC may contribute towards these charges to continue offering shipping to our valued US customers.

Is the surcharge refundable if I return my order?

No. The US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge is non-refundable once DMDC has paid the applicable import duties and processing charges or the order has been dispatched.

Returning the merchandise does not reverse or refund the import costs already paid by DMDC. Any approved refund will therefore exclude the surcharge, original shipping charges and any other non-refundable costs stated in our Return Policy.

Is the surcharge refundable if I cancel my order?

The surcharge will be refunded where an order is cancelled before dispatch and DMDC has not yet paid the applicable import charges.

Once DMDC has paid the import charges or the completed parcel has been dispatched, the surcharge is non-refundable because those costs have already been incurred.

Any separate cancellation fee or other deduction permitted under DMDC’s policies may still apply.

Can a discount code reduce the surcharge?

Discount codes apply according to the terms of the promotion and do not remove the mandatory US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge. The surcharge is calculated using the eligible merchandise value after applicable discounts.

Why is the US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge mandatory?

The tariff and import requirements are imposed by the US Government and are entirely outside DMDC’s control. DMDC did not choose these charges and cannot decide whether to apply them. We are required to pay the applicable duties and processing costs before shipping US orders, so the surcharge must be collected and cannot be waived or removed.

Does DMDC monitor changes to the surcharge?

Yes. DMDC regularly reviews the tariffs, duties and processing charges applied to US shipments. The surcharge may be increased or reduced as required to reflect current costs and US import requirements.

Customers may not receive a separate public notification each time the rate changes. The current surcharge displayed on our website and at checkout is the rate that applies when an order is placed.

Can I pay the import charges when the parcel arrives instead?

No. The applicable import charges must be prepaid before the order is dispatched. DMDC cannot offer payment of duties upon delivery as an alternative.

Can DMDC use another postal service to avoid the surcharge?

No. Changing the carrier does not remove the US Government’s tariff and import requirements. The charges relate to importing the goods into the United States, not simply to the postal service used.

Can I cancel my order because I do not want to pay the surcharge?

If the surcharge was correctly displayed and paid at checkout, any cancellation request will be handled under DMDC’s standard cancellation policy, including any applicable cancellation fee.

If the surcharge failed to apply at checkout and you choose not to pay the subsequent surcharge invoice, the order will be cancelled and refunded after the stated payment period. No surcharge will be retained if the import charges have not been paid by DMDC.

Does the surcharge apply to digital products or gift cards?

No. The surcharge only applies to physical products being shipped to the United States. It does not apply to products that do not require physical delivery, unless otherwise shown at checkout.

Is this surcharge the same as shipping?

No. Shipping covers the cost of transporting your parcel. The US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge contributes towards the tariffs, duties and processing charges required for the order to enter the United States.

Does the surcharge apply because DMDC is located in Australia?

It applies because the order is being imported into the United States. The relevant charges are determined under current US import rules.

Can I avoid the surcharge by placing two smaller orders?

No. The surcharge applies to each US order, regardless of whether the purchase is placed as one order or divided into several smaller orders.

Does the surcharge apply to customers in Canada or other countries?

No. This surcharge applies only to orders being shipped to the United States.

Can I enter a non-US billing address to avoid the surcharge?

No. The surcharge is based on the delivery address. Any physical order being shipped to the United States is subject to the surcharge.

Can I have the order sent to a friend or freight forwarder outside the United States?

The surcharge will be based on the delivery address entered at checkout. DMDC is not responsible for any additional duties, taxes or import requirements that apply if the parcel is later forwarded into the United States.

Will DMDC refund the difference if the actual charge is lower?

No. The surcharge is an averaged commercial charge, not an exact calculation for each parcel. On other orders, DMDC may be charged more than the amount collected and will absorb that difference.

Why can’t DMDC pay the entire surcharge for me?

The import costs are too significant for DMDC to absorb in full while continuing to offer shipping to the United States. The flat surcharge allows US shipping to remain available, while DMDC still covers any amount that exceeds the surcharge collected.

Can DMDC send the order without declaring it to customs?

No. All international parcels require accurate customs documentation. DMDC cannot ship an order without declaring the contents and value.

Will contacting DMDC change the surcharge amount?

No. Customer service cannot waive, negotiate or manually reduce the surcharge. The applicable rate shown at checkout applies to all US orders.

Who is Zonos?

Zonos is the third-party service used by Australia Post to calculate, collect and remit the applicable US import duties and tariffs to the relevant US authorities. Australia Post partnered with Zonos so parcels sent to the United States can comply with current US import requirements.

DMDC pays these charges through Zonos before dispatching your order. Customers do not need to create a Zonos account, make a separate payment or contact Zonos—everything is managed behind the scenes by DMDC, Australia Post and Zonos.

What roles do Australia Post and Zonos play?

Australia Post has partnered with Zonos to process US-bound parcels in line with current import requirements.

Zonos calculates the applicable import charges, collects payment from DMDC and remits the funds to the relevant US authorities. DMDC uses Australia Post for all deliveries to the United States.

Customers do not need to create a Zonos account, make a separate payment or contact Zonos. The process is handled behind the scenes by DMDC, Australia Post and Zonos.

Who imposes the tariffs and duties?

The tariffs and duties are imposed by the US Government under current US import rules. They are not created, controlled or set by DMDC, Australia Post or Zonos.

Does the surcharge apply to the merchandise total before or after discounts?

The surcharge is calculated using the eligible merchandise subtotal after applicable product discounts have been applied. It is not calculated on the shipping charge.

A discount may reduce the merchandise subtotal used in the calculation, but it cannot remove or directly discount the mandatory surcharge.

Does the surcharge apply to sale and clearance products?

Yes. The surcharge applies to physical products being shipped to the United States, including eligible sale and clearance products.

The surcharge is calculated using the merchandise amount payable after any applicable product discount.

What should I do if the surcharge does not appear at checkout?

Do not assume that the order is exempt.

DMDC will review all orders with a US delivery address. If the required surcharge was not collected because of a checkout or website error, an invoice will be issued for payment before dispatch.

Can customer service estimate the exact tariff for each product?

No. The 32% surcharge is an averaged commercial charge used across US orders. Customer service cannot provide or guarantee an exact product-by-product customs calculation before an order is processed.

What happens if I refuse delivery of a US order?

A refused parcel may be returned to DMDC and treated under the applicable return and shipping policies.

The original shipping charge and US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge are non-refundable once incurred. Return-to-sender costs, additional postage or other charges may also be deducted or invoiced where applicable.

What happens if I do not collect my US parcel?

If the parcel is not collected and is returned to DMDC, it will be handled under the applicable return and shipping policies.

Original shipping charges and the US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge are non-refundable once incurred. Any return-to-sender costs or additional postage required may also be payable by the customer.

Is the surcharge based on my billing address or delivery address?

The surcharge is based on the delivery address.

It applies when the physical order is being shipped to an address in the United States, regardless of the country shown in the billing address or the payment method used.

Does paying the surcharge guarantee that customs will not delay my parcel?

No. Prepayment of the applicable import charges does not guarantee immediate customs clearance or delivery by a particular date.

US authorities and postal carriers may still inspect, process or delay a parcel after it has been dispatched.

Can the surcharge change while products are sitting in my cart?

Yes. The applicable surcharge is the rate shown when checkout is completed.

Items placed in a cart are not reserved, and a rate displayed earlier is not guaranteed if tariff requirements or DMDC’s applicable surcharge change before the order is placed.

Shipping

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping rates are calculated and displayed at checkout based on your delivery location and the items in your cart.

If an order exceeds the carrier’s size or weight limits, additional shipping charges may apply. DMDC will email an invoice for the difference, which must be paid before dispatch. If payment is not received within 10 business days, the order will be cancelled and refunded.

When are orders processed and collected by Australia Post?

Please allow up to three business days for your order to be processed, packed and prepared for shipping. This processing period is separate from Australia Post’s delivery timeframe.

DMDC’s scheduled packing days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with a cut-off time of 10:00 am AEST.

Under DMDC’s usual collection schedule:

  • Orders completed on Monday are collected on Tuesday.
  • Orders completed on Wednesday are collected on Thursday.
  • Orders completed on Friday are collected on the following Monday.

These are usual packing and collection arrangements only and are not guaranteed dispatch dates. Public holidays, scheduled closures, emergencies, extreme weather, carrier changes or other circumstances outside DMDC’s control may delay processing or collection until the next available opportunity.

Products requiring additional production, decoration or preparation time are not covered by the standard three-business-day processing timeframe.

What is the order cut-off time for a packing day?

DMDC’s packing cut-off is 10:00 am AEST on scheduled packing days.

Orders received after the cut-off will be considered for the next scheduled packing day. Ordering before the cut-off does not guarantee same-day packing or dispatch, as the standard processing period and any product-specific production, decoration or preparation time still apply.

What is the difference between express shipping and express dispatch?

Express shipping refers only to the delivery time once your order has been dispatched. We do not offer express processing or express dispatch. All orders are prepared within our standard processing timeframe, and delivery times are managed by Australia Post once the parcel leaves DMDC.

What shipping carrier does DMDC use?

DMDC uses Australia Post exclusively for all domestic and international orders. We do not offer alternative courier services.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, DMDC ships worldwide. Enter your delivery address at checkout to view the available shipping options and pricing for your location.

If your country is not available at checkout, please email us and we will confirm whether shipping can be arranged.

What is the difference between Standard Post and Express Post?

Standard Post and Express Post are Australia Post delivery services with different estimated transit timeframes.

Express Post is generally the faster transit option after the parcel has been completed, collected and scanned into the Australia Post network. It does not include express processing, priority packing, rush production or priority decoration by DMDC.

Both Standard and Express delivery timeframes are estimates only and are not guaranteed.

Will my order include tracking?

Yes. All parcels are sent using tracked Australia Post services.

A shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number will be sent when the shipping label has been created. The creation of a tracking number does not necessarily mean the parcel has been collected or dispatched.

Tracking will begin updating after Australia Post collects and scans the completed parcel into its network.

What does “Pending” mean on my tracking?

A Pending tracking status usually means either:

  • your parcel is still with DMDC awaiting Australia Post collection; or
  • Australia Post has collected the parcel, but it has not yet received its first tracking scan.

Tracking will update once Australia Post scans the parcel into its network.

If the status remains unchanged beyond DMDC’s applicable processing or production timeframe, please contact us with your order number.

Why does my tracking say “Label Created”?

A shipping label may be created during one of DMDC’s scheduled packing days before the parcel is ready for Australia Post collection. This allows us to prepare the shipping documentation in advance and does not mean the order has already been dispatched.

The order may still be undergoing final preparation, packing, production or decoration. This commonly occurs with Barely There and Fully Dazzled costumes, as the label may be created while our team is still completing the decoration.

Tracking will update once the finished parcel has been collected and scanned into the Australia Post network. Australia Post’s delivery timeframe begins only after this first scan.

What happens if my order is oversized or overweight?

If the completed order exceeds the weight or parcel dimensions covered by the shipping amount paid at checkout, DMDC will email an invoice for the additional shipping cost.

This may apply where an order exceeds 1 kg, requires a larger box or otherwise falls outside the shipping service originally charged.

The additional amount must be paid before dispatch. If payment is not received within 10 business days, the order will be cancelled and refunded in accordance with DMDC’s cancellation policy.

What happens if my parcel is delayed in transit?

Once a parcel has been collected by Australia Post, its transit and delivery are managed by the carrier.

Please check the tracking information and contact Australia Post directly using your tracking number for the latest delivery information or to lodge an enquiry.

Australia Post delivery timeframes are estimates only, and shipping charges are not refunded solely because a parcel arrives later than estimated. If Australia Post confirms that the parcel is lost rather than delayed, please contact DMDC with the investigation outcome so the available resolution can be reviewed.

What happens if my parcel is lost?

Please contact Australia Post first using the tracking number supplied with your order. Australia Post must investigate the shipment and determine whether it is delayed or officially lost.

DMDC cannot treat a parcel as lost while it remains in transit or while Australia Post’s investigation is still underway.

Once Australia Post has completed its investigation, please email DMDC with your order number and the investigation outcome so we can review the available resolution.

What happens if my parcel is returned to DMDC?

If a parcel is returned because of an incorrect or incomplete address, failure to collect, refusal of delivery or another customer-related delivery issue, DMDC will contact you after the parcel has physically arrived back with us.

You may be required to pay additional postage before the order can be sent again. Original shipping charges are non-refundable, and any return-to-sender or additional carrier costs may also be payable by the customer.

Where an eligible refund is requested instead of reshipping, it will be processed in accordance with DMDC’s Return Policy. For US orders, the US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge remains non-refundable once the import charges have been incurred.

Does processing time include delivery time?

No. Processing time is the period DMDC requires to prepare, pack and dispatch your order.

Products requiring production, decoration or other additional work have separate preparation timeframes stated on the applicable product page.

Australia Post’s estimated delivery timeframe begins only after the completed parcel has been collected and scanned into its network.

How will I know when my order has been dispatched?

You will receive a shipping confirmation email containing your Australia Post tracking number after the shipping label has been created.

The order has physically entered the Australia Post network once the tracking shows an Australia Post collection or lodgement scan. Before that scan, the status may remain as “Pending” or “Label Created.”

Is delivery by a specific date guaranteed?

No. DMDC cannot guarantee delivery by a particular date, including competition, concert, photoshoot, travel or performance dates.

Order processing, production and decoration timeframes are estimates, and all Australia Post transit timeframes—including Express Post—are also estimates only.

Customers are responsible for ordering sufficiently early to allow for DMDC preparation time, carrier transit and possible delays.

Is my order guaranteed to be packed on the next scheduled packing day?

No. DMDC aims to process eligible orders on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but packing and dispatch dates are not guaranteed.

High order volumes, public holidays, scheduled closures, extreme weather, natural disasters, emergencies or other circumstances outside DMDC’s control may delay processing until the next available opportunity.

Products requiring additional production, decoration or preparation time will not necessarily be packed on the next scheduled packing day.

Can I track my international parcel through my local postal carrier?

Yes. Once your parcel enters its destination country, you may be able to enter the same Australia Post tracking number on the local postal carrier’s website, such as USPS, Canada Post or Royal Mail.

Tracking availability and updates depend on the destination country and local postal network.

Does a lack of tracking updates on my international order mean my parcel is lost?

No. International tracking may remain unchanged while the parcel is travelling between facilities, awaiting customs processing or transferring between postal networks.

A lack of recent scans does not automatically mean the parcel has been lost. Please allow the applicable international delivery period before lodging an enquiry with Australia Post.

Who pays import duties and taxes for countries outside the United States?

Customers are responsible for any duties, taxes, tariffs, brokerage fees or customs charges imposed by the destination country outside the United States.

These costs are determined by local authorities, are separate from the amount paid to DMDC and cannot be reliably estimated or controlled by DMDC.

Customers should check their country’s import requirements before ordering.

Can I cancel or refuse my order because I do not want to pay import charges?

Customers are responsible for checking and accepting their country’s import requirements before ordering.

Once an international order has been dispatched, it cannot be cancelled because the customer does not wish to pay duties, taxes or customs charges. Refusing delivery or failing to pay the required charges may result in the parcel being returned to DMDC.

Original shipping charges, customs costs and return-to-sender fees are non-refundable, and additional costs may be deducted or invoiced where applicable.

DMDC declares all international orders accurately and at their full commercial value.

Can E6000 Glue be shipped internationally or by Express Post?

No. E6000 Glue cannot be sent internationally or through any service involving air transport.

Within Australia, orders containing E6000 must be sent using an eligible road-transport service.

Can my order be dispatched sooner if I explain that it is urgent?

DMDC does not offer rush processing, priority packing or guaranteed dispatch dates.

Can I pay for priority processing?

No. DMDC does not currently offer paid priority processing, express production or queue-jumping services.

Express Post only affects Australia Post’s estimated transit time after dispatch.

What happens if I enter the wrong delivery address?

Contact DMDC immediately.

Address changes are only possible before dispatch, are not guaranteed and may incur the applicable order amendment fee. Once the parcel has been dispatched, DMDC cannot change or redirect the address.

The customer is responsible for additional costs arising from an incorrect or incomplete address.

Can I request signature on delivery?

Yes. At checkout, select an Australia Post service that specifically states signature on delivery.

Signature requirements apply only when they are included in the selected shipping service. Please review the available options carefully before completing checkout.

Can I collect my order directly from DMDC?

No. DMDC is an online business and does not offer customer collection unless a specific collection arrangement has been expressly approved in advance.

Orders must be shipped using the available delivery service selected at checkout.

Can DMDC see more tracking information than I can?

DMDC sees the same Australia Post tracking events available to the recipient.

For more information the recipient should contact Australia Post directly.

Order Amendments & Changes

Can separate orders be combined?

No. DMDC does not combine separate orders, even when they are placed by the same customer, use the same delivery address or are submitted close together.

Each order will be processed and shipped exactly as placed. Shipping paid on separate orders is non-refundable and cannot be transferred, credited or applied to another order.

Please review your cart carefully and purchase all required items in one transaction wherever possible.

What are my options if I want to add something after checkout?

You have two options:

  1. Request an amendment to your existing order.
Email DMDC immediately. Amendments are only possible before dispatch, are not guaranteed and incur a $15 amendment fee, plus the cost of any additional items.
  2. Place a new, separate order.
The new order will incur its own shipping charge and will be processed and shipped separately. It cannot later be combined with your original order, and the additional shipping charge will not be refunded.

Can I add items to an order after checkout?

Email DMDC immediately to request an amendment. Changes are only possible before dispatch, are not guaranteed and incur a $15 amendment fee.

Once an order has been dispatched, no changes can be made. Any missed items will need to be placed as a new order.

Alternatively, you may place a separate order for the additional items, but a new shipping charge will apply. Separate orders cannot be combined, and shipping fees will not be refunded.

Why is there a $15 order amendment fee?

Amending an order after checkout requires our team to manually reopen and update the order, confirm stock availability, collect any additional payment, and revise the packing and shipping records.

The $15 fee covers the additional administration and processing involved. It applies to all approved order changes requested after checkout.

What if I do not want to pay the amendment fee?

Your original order will remain unchanged. You may either proceed with the order as placed or submit a separate order for any additional items, with the applicable shipping charge.

DMDC cannot amend an order after checkout without payment of the $15 amendment fee.

What changes incur the $15 amendment fee?

The fee applies to any change requested after checkout that requires action from DMDC staff, including:

  • Changing the size of a costume base
  • Changing a colour or product
  • Adding or removing an item
  • Changing quantities
  • Swapping one item for another
  • Updating other order details

The fee applies per amendment request and must be paid before the change is completed.

Once an order has been dispatched, it cannot be amended.

Is there a fee for cancelling a Barely There or Fully Dazzled costume?

Yes. A $15 cancellation fee applies when a customer requests the cancellation of a Barely There or Fully Dazzled costume. The fee applies once per cancellation request and will be deducted from the refund.

Is there a fee for cancelling an entire order?

Yes. A $15 cancellation fee applies to customer-requested cancellations of an entire order and will be deducted from the refund.

If the order contains a Barely There or Fully Dazzled costume, only one $15 cancellation fee applies—not an additional fee for each decorated item.

Can I remove an item from my order?

You may request removal of an item before dispatch.

Removal is not guaranteed and incurs the $15 order amendment fee because DMDC staff must manually update the order, payment and packing records.

The amendment fee will be deducted from any amount refunded.

Can I apply store credit or a gift card after checkout?

No. Gift cards, store credit and other payment methods must be applied during checkout.

They cannot be retrospectively added to an order that has already been completed.

How quickly do I need to request an amendment?

Contact DMDC as soon as the error is noticed.

Orders may begin processing shortly after checkout, and contacting DMDC does not guarantee that the change can be made. Amendments are only available where the order has not been dispatched and DMDC confirms the request can be completed.

Does sending an amendment request automatically stop my order?

No. Sending an email does not automatically place the order on hold.

The original order remains valid unless DMDC confirms in writing that the amendment has been approved. Customers should not assume a change has been made until confirmation is received.

Is the $15 amendment fee charged for every item changed?

No. The fee applies once per approved amendment request, not once per individual item.

However, if you submit another amendment request later, a further $15 fee may apply.

Can DMDC refuse an amendment request?

Yes. Amendments may be refused where the order has already progressed too far, the requested item is unavailable, payment is not received, the change affects a customised product or the parcel has already been dispatched.

The original order will remain unchanged unless DMDC confirms otherwise.

Will an amendment delay my order?

It may. Changes can require stock checks, additional payment, updated paperwork, repacking or further production work. Any estimated processing or dispatch timeframe may restart or be extended after an amendment is approved.

Sizing

How do I choose the right size?

To find your best fit, please refer to our Sizing Guide and compare your body measurements with the size chart before placing your order.

Do not select a size based only on age, usual clothing size or sizing from another dancewear brand, as sizing can vary considerably. Our guide includes detailed measuring instructions and important advice for different fabric types and costume styles.

If you need further assistance, please contact us with the dancer’s measurements and we will help you identify the most suitable size. The final size selection remains the customer’s responsibility.

What if I am between sizes?

If the dancer’s measurements fall between two sizes, we generally recommend selecting the larger size for the most comfortable fit.

Please pay particular attention to the girth measurement for one-piece costumes, as a costume that is too short through the body may feel tight even if the chest, waist and hips appear suitable.

Fabric should also be considered. Stretch satin, vinyl and PVC generally provide less flexibility than standard lycra, so sizing up may be especially important for these materials.

You may contact us with the dancer’s measurements for general sizing assistance; however, the final size selection remains the customer’s responsibility.

Is DMDC responsible if I order the wrong size?

No. DMDC is not responsible for sizing issues caused by incorrect measurements, failure to review the Sizing Guide or selecting a size based on another brand’s sizing.

Customers must measure the dancer carefully and compare all current body measurements with the DMDC Sizing Guide before placing an order. Do not select a size based only on age, usual clothing size or the fit of another dancewear brand, as every business uses its own sizing system.

DMDC may provide general sizing assistance when current measurements are supplied, but the customer remains responsible for reviewing the size chart and selecting the final size.

Do your costumes have stretch?

Yes. DMDC costumes are made using stretch fabrics; however, the amount of stretch varies depending on the fabric, design and construction.

Standard lycra generally provides the greatest flexibility. Stretch satin usually provides less stretch, while vinyl and PVC may fit considerably firmer.

Please review the individual product description and compare the dancer’s current measurements with our Sizing Guide before ordering. Where measurements fall between sizes, sizing up may be particularly important for satin, vinyl and PVC styles.

Can DMDC alter a costume for me?

No. DMDC does not offer alteration services.

Our costumes are sold as designed, so please refer to our Sizing Guide and check the dancer’s current measurements carefully before placing your order.

Should I order based on the dancer’s age?

No. Age labels are a general guide only and should not be used as the sole basis for selecting a size.

Children of the same age can have very different heights, girths and body measurements. Always use the dancer’s current measurements and compare them with the DMDC Sizing Guide.

Can I use the dancer’s usual clothing size?

No. Everyday clothing sizes are not directly comparable with dance costume sizing.

Please measure the dancer and use the DMDC Sizing Guide rather than relying on their usual clothing size.

Can I use another dancewear brand’s size?

No. Every dancewear business uses its own sizing system, measurements and garment blocks.

A size worn in another brand may not match the equivalent DMDC size. Always check the current body measurements against the DMDC Sizing Guide before ordering.

Which measurements should I take?

Take all measurements requested in the DMDC Sizing Guide using a flexible measuring tape.

Measurements should be taken close to the body over fitted clothing or underwear, without pulling the tape too tightly or leaving it loose.

For one-piece costumes, girth is especially important.

Why is girth important for a leotard?

A costume may fit around the chest, waist and hips but still feel too tight if the torso length is too short.

Checking the girth helps ensure the leotard has sufficient length through the body and does not pull excessively at the shoulders or crotch.

Should measurements be taken over clothing?

Measurements should be taken over underwear, a fitted leotard or close-fitting clothing.

Avoid measuring over loose, bulky or layered clothing, as this can result in an incorrect size selection.

The tape should sit flat and comfortably against the body without pulling tightly or hanging loosely.

The dancer should stand naturally and avoid holding their breath or changing posture while being measured.

Can DMDC choose the size for me?

DMDC can provide general sizing guidance when you supply the dancer’s current measurements.

However, DMDC cannot guarantee fit or make the final decision on the customer’s behalf. The customer remains responsible for reviewing the Sizing Guide and selecting the final size.

Should I size up for growing room?

Choose a size based primarily on the dancer’s current measurements.

A slightly larger size may provide some growing room, but an excessively oversized costume may not fit securely or provide suitable support for performance.

Are two-piece costumes easier to fit than leotards?

Two-piece costumes can be more forgiving through the torso because the top and bottoms are separate.

However, the chest, waist and hip measurements must still be compared with the Sizing Guide to select the most suitable size.

What should I do if one measurement falls into a larger size?

Select the size that safely accommodates the dancer’s largest or most restrictive relevant measurement.

For one-piece costumes, pay particular attention to girth. For fitted bottoms, hips may be especially important. Where uncertain, contact DMDC with all measurements for general guidance.

What should I do if most measurements fit one size but the girth fits another?

For a one-piece costume, the girth measurement usually needs to be prioritised because insufficient torso length can make the costume uncomfortable or unwearable.

Product Information

Are your costumes lined?

DMDC costumes are lined in the main areas required for comfort, coverage and support.

Sheer mesh, lace, sleeves, skirts, cut-outs and other design features may remain unlined where this forms part of the intended design. Please review the individual product photographs and description for style-specific information.

Will sold-out designs be restocked?

If a design is marked as sold out, it will likely be restocked. However, if a design has been discontinued, it will not be restocked once it has sold out.

What happens if an item is out of stock?

For most items, if a product is temporarily out of stock, it will be restocked and become available again. However, Ready to Wear (RTW) costumes and Ex-Rental costumes are one-of-a-kind items. Once these have sold out, they will not be restocked.

Are colours exactly as shown online?

DMDC makes every reasonable effort to display product colours accurately. However, colours may appear different depending on screen settings, brightness, device type, photography lighting and the finish of the fabric.

Satin, hologram, metallic, vinyl, PVC and rhinestone finishes may also reflect light differently in person. Slight colour variation between the online image and physical product is not necessarily a fault.

Eligible items may still be returned in accordance with the Return Policy where the customer does not like the colour in person.

What is a costume base?

A costume base is an undecorated dance costume designed to be worn as supplied or customised with rhinestones, appliqués, fringe, feathers or other embellishments.

DMDC costume bases provide a professionally made starting point for customers who want to create their own stage costume.

What does “Base Only” mean?

Base Only means the costume is supplied without rhinestone decoration by DMDC.

Any detachable accessories specifically listed as included in the product description will still be supplied.

Are rhinestones included with a costume base?

No. Rhinestones are not included with a Base Only costume unless the product description specifically states otherwise.

Rhinestones, glue and decorating tools can be purchased separately through the Dazzle Emporium.

Are accessories shown in product photos included?

Yes. For DMDC costume bases, all costume pieces and accessories shown in the product photos are included.

For example, if the photos show matching gloves, sleeves, a neckband, skirt, briefs or another costume accessory, those items are included with the base.

Shoes, jewellery, hair accessories, props and other styling items not forming part of the costume are not included.

Can I request a different fabric or colour?

Standard website products are sold only in the listed fabrics and colour options.

Different colours or fabrics cannot be requested unless they are available as a selectable variant or approved as part of a custom troupe booking.

Can I request a design change to a website costume?

No. Standard website costumes are sold as designed.

Requests to add, remove or change straps, sleeves, skirts, cut-outs, necklines or other construction details are not available.

Can I send my own costume to DMDC for decoration or alterations?

No. DMDC does not accept customer-owned garments for decoration, alteration or repair.

Decoration services are offered only with eligible DMDC products and advertised options.

Do fabric batches always match exactly?

No. Minor colour, sheen, texture or finish variations can occur between manufacturing batches.

Customers ordering for a troupe should place the full group order together wherever possible to improve consistency.

What do the different product labels mean?

DMDC uses the following labels to explain a product’s availability or condition:

  • Discontinued: DMDC does not plan to restock the product once the remaining sizes or colours have sold.
  • Limited Edition: The style, fabric or colour has been produced in restricted quantities and may not be restocked once sold out.
  • Ready-to-Wear: A completed one-off or limited costume sold in the exact size and design shown. It cannot be resized, customised or reproduced on request.
  • Ready Right Now: A completed costume that is available without the usual decoration or production timeframe. Standard order processing and shipping times still apply.
  • Ex-Rental: A costume that has previously been hired or worn. It has been cleaned, checked and repaired where required, but may show signs of previous use.
  • Perfectly Imperfect: A product with a disclosed cosmetic variation, minor fault or manufacturing imperfection. The issue will be shown or explained in the product listing.
  • Final Sale: An item that cannot be returned or exchanged for change of mind, incorrect sizing or colour preference. Rights under Australian Consumer Law remain unaffected.

Can I preorder a sold-out item?

No. DMDC does not accept preorders for sold-out products.

Where available, you may use the restock notification option on the product page. A notification does not reserve stock or guarantee that the product, colour or size will return.

Troupe/Group Orders

Do you work with dance schools, teachers or performance teams?

Yes. DMDC works with dance schools, teachers, studios and performance teams.

Larger quantities of in-stock website designs can be ordered directly through our website. Any applicable group discount will be applied automatically at checkout when the required quantity is added to the cart, so no discount code is needed.

For custom group designs, a booking is required and a minimum of five costumes per style applies. To enquire or submit a custom group booking, please use our booking link:

https://linktr.ee/dazzlemedancewear?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio

What is the minimum quantity for a custom group order?

Custom troupe orders require a minimum of five costumes per style.

Orders below this quantity are not accepted as custom group bookings.

Does the five-costume minimum apply to in-stock website designs?

No. The five-costume minimum applies to custom group designs.

In-stock website products can be ordered in any available quantity directly through the website.

How do I receive the group discount on in-stock designs?

Add the required quantity of eligible in-stock products to your cart.

Any applicable group discount will be applied automatically at checkout. No discount code is required.

Can a group discount be applied after checkout?

No. The required quantity must be in the cart when checkout is completed.

DMDC does not retrospectively apply group discounts or refund the difference after an order has been placed.

Can teachers order existing website designs without making a custom booking?

Yes. If the required sizes and quantities are currently in stock, teachers can order directly through the website.

If an existing website design needs to be specially ordered so the correct sizes and quantities can be supplied, please email DMDC with the style name, colour and quantity required in each size. Our administration team will confirm availability and prepare an invoice.

This is not a custom design booking. The custom booking form is only required when requesting a new custom group design.

How long does a custom group order take?

Custom troupe orders generally require approximately 7-12 weeks for production after the required payment and approvals have been received, plus shipping time.

This is an estimate only and may vary depending on the design, quantity and production conditions.

Does decoration add extra time to a custom group order?

Yes. Decorated troupe orders require additional preparation time after the costumes arrive.

The estimated decoration period will depend on the design and quantity ordered.

Are custom group completion dates guaranteed?

No. Production, decoration and delivery timeframes are estimates only.

Studios should allow a suitable buffer before competitions, concerts, photoshoots or other required dates.

Can I change quantities or sizes after confirming a group order?

Changes are not guaranteed after approval, payment or production has begun.

Any approved change may result in additional costs, delays or a revised quote.

Who is responsible for checking group sizes?

The teacher, studio or person placing the order is responsible for measuring each dancer, reviewing the DMDC Sizing Guide and submitting the correct size quantities.

DMDC may provide general sizing guidance but cannot accept responsibility for incorrect size selections.

Can a group order be cancelled after payment?

Once a deposit or full payment has been received, the group order is confirmed. DMDC may then place the order with our manufacturer and/or reserve in-stock garments so they cannot be sold to other customers.

A customer may withdraw from the order after payment; however, the deposit is non-refundable and will be forfeited. The deposit is retained to cover production commitments, administration and the potential resale of reserved stock.

Any garments reserved for the order may be returned to sale if the customer cancels. Once production has commenced, no alterations, size changes, quantity changes or design changes can be made.

Please ensure all designs, sizes, quantities and requirements have been approved by the teacher or studio before making payment. Payment confirms acceptance of the invoice Terms and Conditions.

This does not limit any rights that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

Are custom group orders returnable?

Custom-made and made-to-order group products cannot generally be returned or exchanged for change of mind, incorrect sizing or colour preference.

Consumer rights relating to faults remain unaffected.

Can a studio reorder extra costumes later?

A reorder may be possible, but availability and an exact match cannot be guaranteed.

Fabric, lace, trim and colour batches may change, and minimum order requirements or additional production costs may apply.

Bulk troupe discounts apply only to the original qualifying order. Additional costumes ordered separately at a later date will be priced based on the new order quantity and will not automatically receive the discount applied to the original group order.

Will a later reorder match the original costumes exactly?

DMDC will make reasonable efforts to match the original design, but exact colour and material matching cannot be guaranteed across different production batches.

Do larger production orders of website designs require a booking?

In-stock quantities can be ordered directly through the website.

Where the required quantity exceeds available stock and additional production is needed, contact DMDC via email before ordering so availability and timing can be confirmed.

Can custom group designs be sold to other customers?

DMDC will not reproduce or sell a studio’s specific custom design to the general public.

However, all designs, sketches and concepts remain the property of DMDC. After a minimum of two years, DMDC may create and sell a similar or adapted design, provided it is not an exact reproduction of the original custom group design.

Rhinestoning Questions

What does "SS" stand for?

SS stands for Stone Size, which is the standard sizing system used for rhinestones and crystals. The higher the SS number, the larger the stone.

For example:

  • SS10 – approximately 2.8 mm
  • SS16 – approximately 3.8–4.0 mm
  • SS20 – approximately 4.6–4.8 mm
  • SS30 – approximately 6.3–6.5 mm

Stone sizes can vary slightly between manufacturers, but the SS sizing system is the industry standard used to indicate rhinestone size.

What is the difference between glass, resin and jelly rhinestones?

Glass rhinestones are made from glass and provide the strongest sparkle and most premium finish. They are generally the most expensive option.

Resin and jelly rhinestones are plastic-based stones. They are lighter and more affordable than glass rhinestones, making them useful for larger designs or budget-conscious projects.

Glass rhinestones are recommended where maximum stage sparkle is the priority, while resin and jelly stones are suitable when lower weight or cost is more important.

Which rhinestones do you recommend for beginners?

DMDC recommends SS20 rhinestones for beginners. They are large enough to handle and place easily while still being suitable for detailed costume designs.

For colour and finish, AB rhinestones are our top recommendation. The Aurora Borealis coating provides strong multicoloured sparkle under stage lighting and complements almost every fabric colour.

For a simple first project, SS20 AB rhinestones are a versatile and beginner-friendly choice.

What is the difference between rhinestones and crystals?

The terms are often used interchangeably. At DMDC, the product description will state the material and type being sold, such as glass or resin.

Always check the individual listing rather than relying only on the general term “crystal.”

What does AB mean, and how is it different from a standard rhinestone?

AB stands for Aurora Borealis.

AB rhinestones have an iridescent coating that reflects multiple colours depending on the lighting and viewing angle. Standard or non-AB rhinestones generally show their main colour more clearly and create a more uniform finish.

DMDC recommends AB as a versatile first choice because it provides strong stage sparkle and works well with almost every fabric colour.

Are DMDC rhinestones hotfix, and what do I need to apply them?

No. DMDC rhinestones are never hotfix.

They must be applied using a suitable rhinestone adhesive. DMDC recommends E6000 for rhinestoning dance costumes because it creates a strong, flexible bond.

Glue, pick-up tools, trays and other rhinestoning accessories are sold separately unless the product description specifically states that they are included.

Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions, work in a well-ventilated area and test the glue on a hidden section of fabric first.

What glue should I use for rhinestones?

DMDC recommends E6000 for rhinestoning dance costumes because it creates a strong, flexible bond.

Always follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions, use it in a well-ventilated area and test it on a hidden section of the fabric before completing the full design.

Is glue included with rhinestones?

No. Glue is sold separately here.

Are rhinestone tools included?

No. Pick-up tools, trays, cups and other rhinestoning accessories are sold separately unless specifically included in a product or pack description.

How many rhinestones do I need, and should I order extra?

The number of rhinestones required depends on the costume size, stone sizes, spacing and the amount of coverage you want.

For the best guide, view our Dazzle Packs. Each Dazzle Pack includes DMDC’s recommended quantity of rhinestones for the featured design, and the product photos show the approximate coverage that quantity can achieve.

The final number used may vary depending on your placement and spacing. Ordering some extra rhinestones is recommended for placement changes, accidental loss and future repairs.

Will rhinestones from different packets or batches match exactly?

Not always. Minor differences in shade, coating, shape, size or finish may occur between manufacturing batches.

The same colour may also look slightly different across glass, resin and jelly rhinestones. We recommend purchasing enough stones for the entire project at one time wherever possible.

Why do rhinestone colours look different online, and can I order a sample?

Rhinestone colours may appear different depending on screen settings, photography lighting, reflective coatings and the angle at which the stones are viewed. AB, metallic, neon and iridescent finishes can appear particularly different under changing light.

Sample cards are available for all DMDC rhinestone types and are the best way to compare colours and finishes before placing a larger order. Please note that minor variations may still occur between manufacturing batches.

How can I remove dried E6000 glue if I apply it in the wrong spot?

Within reason, small amounts of dried E6000 may be removed using pure acetone and a cotton tip. Gently rub the affected area using only a small amount of acetone.

Use extreme care on fabrics with a surface finish, including hologram, metallic, satin, vinyl and PVC, as acetone may strip, dull, discolour or permanently damage the finish.

Always test the acetone on a hidden area first. Work in a well-ventilated space, keep it away from heat and flames, and stop immediately if the fabric or finish begins to change. Complete removal cannot be guaranteed.

Can DMDC decorate a costume or apply rhinestones I supply?

DMDC does not accept customer-owned garments or customer-supplied rhinestones for decoration.

Our rhinestoning services are available only with eligible DMDC products and advertised options, such as Barely There and Fully Dazzled.

What is a Dazzle Pack, and what is included?

A Dazzle Pack is a do-it-yourself decorating option that includes the applicable DMDC costume base and the rhinestones or embellishments selected for the featured design.

The costume arrives undecorated. The customer is responsible for applying the stones and completing the design.

The product listing will state whether glue, instructions, a placement guide or any additional materials are included. Unless specifically stated, glue must be purchased separately.

Can I change or separate the items in a Dazzle Pack?

No. Dazzle Packs are sold with the advertised costume base, rhinestone selection and colour combination.

Colour substitutions and design changes are not available unless another variant is listed.

Returns & Refunds

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Yes. Eligible items may be returned within 30 days of receiving the parcel, provided they meet all conditions in our Return Policy.

Items must be unworn and unused except for a careful try-on over underwear, free from marks, stains, odours, pet hair or damage, with all original tags attached and original packaging included.

Customised, decorated, made-to-order, opened, digital and Final Sale products may not be eligible for return.

Can I return or exchange a costume if I have tried it on?

Yes. You may try on the costume to check the fit. For hygiene reasons, underwear must be worn at all times while trying on the garment.

Returned items must be clean, undamaged and in their original condition with all tags attached. DMDC may refuse a return or exchange if the item shows signs of wear, damage, body odour, makeup, fake tan, deodorant, pet hair or other soiling.

If a returned costume has staining or soiling, DMDC may deduct a reasonable cleaning fee from the refund. The amount will be determined based on the severity of the staining and the cleaning required. If the item cannot be hygienically restored to a saleable condition, the return may be refused.

Are shipping costs refundable?

No. Original shipping costs are non-refundable for change-of-mind returns, exchanges, incorrect sizing, colour preference or other customer-requested returns.

Customers are also responsible for the cost of return postage. Any tariffs, duties, customs charges or applicable US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge already incurred are also non-refundable.

Please refer to our Return Policy for full details.

Do you accept returns on custom items?

No. As all custom-made items are created specifically to your requirements, they cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded. We recommend carefully reviewing your order details before confirming your purchase. If you have any questions prior to ordering, our team is happy to assist.

Can I return an item if I change my mind, ordered the wrong size or do not like the colour?

Yes. Eligible standard products may be returned within 30 days of delivery for change of mind, incorrect sizing or colour preference.

The item must meet all return conditions. Return postage is the customer’s responsibility, and the original shipping costs are non-refundable.

For sizing returns, the customer must place a new order for the required size. Stock cannot be held while a return is in transit. Before reordering, please measure the dancer again and review our Sizing Guide . DMDC can provide general sizing guidance when current measurements are supplied, but the final size selection remains the customer’s responsibility.

Colours may appear different depending on screen settings, photography lighting and fabric finish. A difference in personal colour preference is not necessarily a product fault.

What condition must a returned item be in?

Returned items must be:

  • unworn and unused except for a careful try-on;
  • clean, unwashed and free from marks, stains, odours and pet hair;
  • undamaged and unaltered;
  • returned with all original tags attached;
  • returned with all included costume pieces and accessories; and
  • returned in the original packaging.

Items that have been worn for a rehearsal, performance, photoshoot or other extended use cannot be returned for change of mind.

Do not cut, sew, glue, rhinestone, wash or otherwise modify an item before deciding whether to return it.

Who pays for shipping, duties and return postage?

The customer is responsible for all return postage for change-of-mind returns, incorrect sizing, colour preference and exchanges.

Original shipping costs are non-refundable. Tariffs, duties, customs charges and any applicable US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge are also non-refundable once incurred.

Tracked return postage is strongly recommended, as the customer remains responsible for the parcel until it is physically received by DMDC.

How do I send a return?

Eligible returns must be sent within 30 days of delivery and must meet all conditions in our Return Policy.

To return an item:

  1. Check that the item is eligible.
The item must be clean, unworn except for a careful try-on, unwashed, unaltered and returned with all original tags, packaging and included costume pieces or accessories.
  2. Pack the item securely.
Place the item in suitable protective packaging so it is not damaged, marked or exposed during transit.
  3. Include a note inside the parcel containing:
your full name, order number, email address used for the order, the item being returned, the reason for the return and whether you are requesting store credit or a refund to the original payment method.
  4. Send the parcel to:
    Dazzle Me Dancewear
    Parcel Locker 10217 65594
    Shop 27, 54 Minjungbal Drive
    Tweed Heads South NSW 2486
    Australia
  5. Use tracked postage.
Return postage is the customer’s responsibility. We strongly recommend keeping the tracking number and postage receipt until the return has been completed. DMDC is not responsible for returned parcels that are lost, delayed or delivered incorrectly before reaching us.
  6. Wait for the return to be inspected.
A postal tracking update showing delivery does not mean the return has already been assessed. Once the parcel has been opened and inspected, DMDC will confirm whether the return has been accepted and process the applicable refund or store credit.

Original shipping costs, return postage, tariffs, duties, customs charges and any applicable US Import Cost Recovery Surcharge are non-refundable.

Do not send the return using the clear DMDC zip-lock product bag as the outer postage packaging. The product and its packaging must be returned in clean, undamaged condition and placed inside a separate protective shipping satchel, box or other suitable mailing packaging.

Returns sent without appropriate outer packaging may be refused if the product bag or item is damaged, marked, torn or no longer suitable for resale.

Do not alter, wash, decorate, repair or otherwise modify the item before returning it.

What is the return shipping address?

Please send eligible returns to:

Dazzle Me Dancewear
Parcel Locker 10217 65594,
Shop 27, 54 Minjungbal Drive,
Tweed Heads South, NSW, 2486
Australia

The item and its clear zip-lock DMDC product bag must be placed inside a separate protective shipping satchel, box or suitable outer mailing package. Do not use the product bag itself as the postage satchel.

Include your full name, order number and email address inside the parcel so the return can be identified. Return postage is the customer’s responsibility, and tracked shipping is strongly recommended.

What happens if DMDC cannot identify my return?

You must include your full name, order number and email address inside the return parcel so DMDC can identify the sender and match the item to the correct order.

If no identifying information is provided and DMDC cannot determine who sent the parcel, the return will be treated as abandoned and no refund or store credit will be issued.

If your return tracking shows that the parcel was delivered to DMDC but you have not received a refund or update, contact us within 10 days of the delivery date and provide the return tracking number. Claims made after this period may not be accepted.

What can I do if I do not want to return the item to DMDC?

You may keep the item, gift it, sell it privately or list it through another resale platform.

DMDC also offers the DMDC Resale Marketplace, a dedicated resale platform created exclusively for DMDC customers to buy and sell eligible genuine DMDC products.

Marketplace listing fees, approval requirements and seller terms apply, and DMDC does not guarantee that an item will sell.

DMDC Resale Marketplace

What is the DMDC Resale Marketplace?

The DMDC Resale Marketplace is a dedicated platform created for DMDC customers to advertise and purchase eligible pre-owned DMDC costumes or bases.

It allows genuine DMDC products to be offered directly between buyers and sellers. DMDC provides the listing platform and reviews submissions, but does not act as the buyer, seller, payment processor or shipping provider for the resale transaction.

How does the DMDC Resale Marketplace work?

The Marketplace connects buyers and sellers of eligible genuine DMDC products.

For sellers:

  1. Submit one listing for each item.
  2. Pay the applicable listing fee.
  3. Provide accurate product details, seller location and clear photographs.
  4. DMDC reviews the submission.
  5. If approved, the listing is published for up to 60 days.
  6. Interested buyers contact the seller through the Contact Seller form.
  7. The buyer and seller privately arrange payment, postage and completion of the sale.
  8. The seller must advise DMDC when the item sells or is no longer available.

For buyers:

  1. Browse the available Marketplace listings.
  2. Review the photographs, description, size, condition, price and seller location.
  3. Contact the seller through the Contact Seller form.
  4. Ask any questions before agreeing to purchase.
  5. Arrange payment and shipping directly with the seller.

DMDC provides the listing platform but does not handle the sale payment, shipping, returns or disputes between buyers and sellers.

What products can be listed on the Marketplace?

Only eligible genuine DMDC costumes or bases may be listed.

Products from other brands, copied DMDC designs, general dancewear, decorating supplies or unrelated items cannot be listed. The seller must select the applicable DMDC style from the available options when creating the listing.

DMDC may reject any product that cannot be verified as a genuine eligible DMDC item.

How much does it cost to submit a listing?

Each Marketplace listing costs A$5.50 before GST.

For Australian customers, GST is added at checkout, bringing the total to A$6.05 per listing.

Customers outside Australia are charged A$5.50 per listing without Australian GST.

The fee covers one listing submission and is non-refundable. Paying the fee allows the product to be submitted for review but does not guarantee approval.

Does paying the listing fee guarantee approval?

No. All submissions are reviewed by DMDC and must meet the Marketplace requirements.

The listing fee remains non-refundable if the listing is rejected, withdrawn, removed, expires or does not sell. Sellers must check all details and photographs carefully before submitting.

What information and photographs must I provide?

Sellers must provide accurate details, including the DMDC style, colour, size, condition, seller location, price and any alterations, decoration, damage, wear or missing pieces.

Clear current photographs of the actual item must be supplied, including front and back views and close-ups of any faults or modifications. DMDC website photographs alone are not sufficient.

How do buyers contact sellers and make payment?

Buyers contact sellers through the Marketplace’s Contact Seller form.

The buyer and seller then communicate directly and privately agree on the price, payment method, postage and transaction terms. DMDC does not receive, hold or process payment for the resale item.

Who arranges shipping, returns and refunds?

The buyer and seller arrange shipping directly between themselves.

They are also responsible for agreeing on any returns, refunds, cancellations or disputes. DMDC does not provide shipping labels, track Marketplace parcels or issue refunds for purchases made from independent sellers.

Does DMDC inspect or guarantee Marketplace items?

No. DMDC reviews the submitted information and photographs but does not physically inspect each product.

Listing approval is not a guarantee of authenticity, condition, fit, quality, value, payment, dispatch or delivery. Buyers should review the listing carefully and ask the seller any questions before paying.

How long does a listing remain active, and what happens when it sells?

An approved listing remains active for up to 60 days, unless it sells or is removed earlier.

The seller must promptly notify DMDC or use the available portal option when the item sells or is no longer available. A new submission and listing fee are required to relist an item after expiry.

Can DMDC reject, edit or remove a listing?

Yes. DMDC may reject, edit, hide or remove a listing that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, fraudulent, unsafe, no longer available or does not comply with Marketplace requirements.

The listing fee remains non-refundable. The seller is responsible for ensuring the listing stays accurate and for promptly advising DMDC if the item sells elsewhere.

Why does DMDC charge a Marketplace listing fee?

The listing fee helps cover the ongoing costs of operating the DMDC Resale Marketplace, including the portal subscription, payment-processing costs, listing review, administration, customer support and maintenance of the platform.

DMDC does not receive a commission when an item sells and does not handle the payment between the buyer and seller. The fee applies to the listing service itself and helps keep the Marketplace available exclusively for DMDC customers.

Can customers from any country list an item?

Yes. Customers from any country may submit a Marketplace listing, provided the item is an eligible genuine DMDC product and the seller can complete all required listing information.

International sellers are responsible for accurately stating their location and advising buyers where the item will be shipped from. The buyer and seller must arrange payment, postage, tracking, customs declarations, duties, taxes and any other import costs directly between themselves.

Australian customers are charged GST on the A$5.50 listing fee. Customers outside Australia pay A$5.50 without Australian GST.

Does DMDC take a commission when an item sells?

No. DMDC charges the Marketplace listing fee only.

DMDC does not take a percentage of the seller’s sale price and does not receive or process payment between the buyer and seller.

Who is responsible for the accuracy of a listing?

The seller is responsible for ensuring that all listing details, photographs, measurements, condition information and disclosures are accurate.

The seller must clearly disclose any wear, marks, damage, repairs, alterations, missing accessories or added decoration.

DMDC reviews submissions but does not physically inspect each item and cannot guarantee that every seller statement is accurate.

What should buyers check before purchasing?

Buyers should carefully review the listing and ask the seller any necessary questions before making payment.

This may include confirming:

  • the labelled size;
  • garment measurements;
  • condition;
  • alterations or repairs;
  • missing accessories;
  • added rhinestones or decoration;
  • seller location;
  • postage cost;
  • payment method; and
  • available shipping options.

Marketplace purchases are made directly from independent sellers, not from DMDC.

What should a seller do once the item has sold?

The seller must promptly mark the item as sold, use the available removal option or contact DMDC so the listing can be removed.

The seller must not continue accepting payment or enquiries for an item that is no longer available.

If the item sells elsewhere, the Marketplace listing must also be removed promptly.

Can a listing be renewed after it expires?

A listing remains active for up to 60 days.

If the item has not sold by the expiry date, the seller may submit a new listing and pay a new listing fee. Approval is not automatically carried over from the expired listing.

Is the Marketplace purchase covered by DMDC’s Return Policy?

No. DMDC’s standard Return Policy applies to products purchased directly from DMDC, not to private Marketplace transactions.

The buyer and seller must agree between themselves on whether returns, refunds or cancellations will be accepted.

What happens if there is a dispute between a buyer and seller?

The buyer and seller are responsible for resolving disputes directly.

DMDC cannot issue refunds, reverse payments, recover parcels or decide private disputes relating to condition, payment, delivery, fit or returns.

Both parties should keep written records, use tracked postage and choose a payment method that provides appropriate protection.

Can DMDC remove a seller from the Marketplace?

Yes. DMDC may reject listings or restrict Marketplace access where a user provides misleading information, repeatedly fails to update sold listings, lists ineligible products, behaves fraudulently or breaches the Marketplace terms.

This helps protect the DMDC customer community and maintain the quality of the Marketplace.

Does Marketplace approval mean DMDC guarantees the item?

No. Approval only means the submitted listing appears to meet the Marketplace requirements based on the information and photographs provided by the seller.

DMDC does not physically inspect or authenticate each item and does not guarantee its authenticity, condition, fit, value, payment, dispatch or delivery.

Before purchasing, buyers should review the listing carefully and ask the seller for any additional information needed. This may include:

  • extra photographs of the front, back and condition;
  • close-up photographs of any damage, alterations or decoration;
  • photographs of the DMDC label or size tag;
  • confirmation of all included costume pieces; and
  • proof of original purchase where available.

Buyers remain responsible for deciding whether to proceed with the private transaction.

What is DMDC responsible for in Marketplace transactions?

DMDC provides the Resale Marketplace as a listing and contact platform only. Marketplace items are sold directly by independent sellers, not by DMDC.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DMDC is not responsible for:

  • the accuracy of a seller’s description, photographs, measurements or claims;
  • the authenticity, condition, quality, safety, fit or value of an item;
  • communication between buyers and sellers;
  • payment, fraud, chargebacks or non-payment;
  • packing, postage, customs charges, loss, damage or delivery delays;
  • returns, refunds, cancellations or exchanges;
  • disputes between buyers and sellers; or
  • any loss arising from a buyer or seller proceeding with a private transaction.

DMDC reviews listings for general Marketplace compliance but does not physically inspect, authenticate or guarantee items. Listing approval is not an endorsement of the seller or product.

Buyers and sellers are responsible for carrying out their own checks, keeping written records, using secure payment methods and arranging tracked shipping.

Nothing in this FAQ or the Marketplace Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights, remedies or responsibilities that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.

Why would I use the DMDC Resale Marketplace instead of returning my item?

The Marketplace may be a more cost-effective option, particularly for international customers or where return postage is expensive.

Returning an item to DMDC means the original shipping cost remains non-refundable and the customer must also pay return postage. These combined costs may be significantly higher than the AU$5.50 Marketplace listing fee.

By listing the item for resale, you may recover more of what you paid without sending it back to Australia. The Marketplace is optional, listing approval is required and DMDC cannot guarantee that the item will sell.

You may still return an eligible item to DMDC within the applicable return period if you would prefer to do so.

Payment and Discounts

Do you offer payment plans?

No. DMDC does not offer payment plans for standard website orders.

Orders must be paid in full using one of the payment methods available at checkout.

For approved custom group orders, the invoice may offer either a deposit or full-payment option. This is part of the group-order booking process and is not a general payment plan.

Can I pay a deposit for a website order?

No. Standard website orders must be paid in full at checkout.

Deposit options apply only where they are expressly offered on an approved custom group-order invoice.

Can I reserve an item and pay later?

No. DMDC does not reserve website stock without completed payment.

Items remain available to other customers until checkout has been completed and payment has been accepted.

Can I use discount codes on any product?

Discount codes can only be used on the eligible products, collections and order values included in the promotion.

Some products, collections, sale items or services may be excluded, and a code may also have an expiry date, minimum spend or quantity requirement. Please review the terms and conditions supplied with the discount code before completing checkout.

The code must be entered and successfully applied at checkout. DMDC cannot add a discount code or refund the difference after an order has been placed.

Do you offer a first-time customer discount?

No. DMDC does not currently offer a first-order or first-time customer discount code.

Discount codes and gift vouchers may occasionally be offered through DMDC promotions, official social media accounts or sponsored events. DMDC sponsors the dance competition, "Full Out" and may provide gift vouchers as prizes for selected winners.

Any voucher or discount is subject to its stated eligibility requirements, expiry date and terms of use.

Can I combine multiple discount codes?

No. Only one discount code can be applied to each order. Multiple discount codes cannot be combined or used on the same purchase.

We recommend comparing any valid codes available to you and using the one that provides the greatest benefit for your order.

What happens if I use a discount code incorrectly or without authorisation?

Discount codes must only be used on eligible products and in accordance with the promotion terms. Private, winner-only, studio-specific or otherwise restricted codes may only be used by the person or group they were issued to.

If a code is applied to an ineligible product, obtained or copied from another person, shared without permission or otherwise used outside its terms, DMDC may:

  • contact the customer to arrange payment of the unauthorised discount before dispatch;
  • cancel and refund the order;
  • deactivate the code; or
  • refuse future use where misuse is identified.

To avoid delays, only use discount codes provided directly to you or publicly advertised by DMDC, and check the eligibility requirements before completing checkout.

How do group discounts work for in-stock designs?

Eligible group discounts are applied automatically at checkout when the required quantity of qualifying in-stock products is added to the cart.

No discount code is required. The full qualifying quantity must be included in one transaction.

Can separate orders be combined to receive a group discount?

No. The required quantity must be purchased in one order.

Separate completed orders cannot be combined, and discounts cannot be applied across multiple transactions.

Can a discount be applied after checkout?

No. Discount codes and automatic promotions must be successfully applied before checkout is completed.

DMDC does not retrospectively add discounts or refund the difference after an order has been placed.

Why is my discount code not working?

A discount code may have expired, apply only to selected products, require a minimum spend or quantity, or be unavailable with another promotion.

Check the promotion terms and ensure all eligible products and required quantities are in the cart before completing checkout.

If the code should be valid but is still not working, please email contact.dazzleme@gmail.com before placing your order. Include the discount code and a screenshot of your cart so our team can review the issue.

We aim to reply as soon as possible, but response times may vary depending on enquiry volume, public holidays, staff availability and scheduled closures. Messages received outside administration hours will be reviewed during the next available administration period.

Sending repeated emails or messages through several channels will not result in a faster response and may make the enquiry more difficult to follow.

  • your full name;
  • order number, where applicable;
  • the email address used at checkout;
  • a clear explanation of the enquiry;

Can I call DMDC?

DMDC provides customer support by email and does not offer a general customer-service phone line.

Email allows our team to keep order details, photographs, measurements and previous communication together in one written record. Please contact contact.dazzleme@gmail.com for assistance.

Should I send another email if I have not received a reply?

Please allow DMDC time to respond during our administration hours before sending another email.

If you need to add important information, reply to your original email thread rather than starting a new message. This keeps all details together and helps our team review the enquiry efficiently.

Before following up, check your junk or spam folder in case our reply has been filtered.

What should I do if I cannot find my order confirmation?

Check your junk, spam and promotions folders first.

If you still cannot locate it, email contact.dazzleme@gmail.com and include as much of the following as possible:

  • your full name;
  • the email address used to place the order;
  • your order number, if known;
  • the approximate order date; and
  • any relevant payment details.

This information will help our team locate the correct order more quickly.

What should I do if I entered the wrong email address at checkout?

Email contact.dazzleme@gmail.com as soon as possible with your name, order number and correct email address.

Corrections are not guaranteed once the order has progressed, and an amendment fee may apply where staff must manually update the order.

Can I contact DMDC about a product before ordering?

For sizing help, include the dancer’s current measurements. DMDC can provide general guidance, but the customer remains responsible for the final size selection.

Orders must be placed through the website and will be shipped using the selected delivery service.

What if I receive an email claiming to be from DMDC?

Check that the message relates to your order and comes from contact.dazzleme@gmail.com.

Do not provide passwords, card details or login codes by email. If you are unsure whether a message is genuine, contact contact.dazzleme@gmail.com in a new email thread before responding.
